Over the next two months, I will post short stories, newspaper articles, quotations, idioms, and questions to which you are to respond. It will be your responsibility to respond actively and regularly. For each post, you must respond with a thoughtful comment and/or question at least once. Please read the entirety of each post - that means ALL of it!

The story of the Titanic started at a dinner party in London, in 1907. Lord James Pirrie and J. Bruce Ismay, who were working for The White Star Line company, a respected ship operating company, planned to build three luxurious ships. After they finished the planning process, they started to product two of this ships that were named Olympic and Titanic, in 1908. Completing Titanic’s production took almost 4 years. In 1912, the Titanic was launched from Southampton, England. The first voyage of the Titanic was from London to New York. At the beginning of the voyage everything was going on the correct way till fourth day of the voyage. The Titanic hit a big iceberg while it was sailing on its way to New York. The crash caused 300 feet-long hole in the ship. Thus, the first floors began filling with water. The crew immediately launched the lifeboats, and started to prepare passengers and crew for evacuation. Even though the Titanic contained 2,200 passengers and crew, there were only 6 lifeboats. It was obviously not enough. When the last lifeboat was filled, there had already been 1,500 people left on the board. Ten hours later after accident, one side of the ship rose out of the water. Then, the Titanic split into two parts, and started to sink. Approximately, 1,500 people died on that accident.
Plenty of people wanted to find the wreck of the Titanic, but nobody could achieve until Robert Ballard and Jean Luis Martin found it and took lots of f photographs after 73 years from the tragedy. Up to now, the disasters and its survivors have been the subjects of movies of which has been the most expensive movie ever made, and also that movie won 11 academic awards.
